Having a poker face and what it can do for you

Luck is a big factor when you are gambling, but it is not the only thing that a player should know. Certain skills are needed to be learned. The basics should not be skipped on and tactics are built upon it. One of the techniques that one can apply in playing poker is by having a poker face. It is imperative to have a stone face and not to show any emotion on whatever the game play may lead on.

Holding on to a secret is one of the best traits of a good gambler. Excitement and other emotions are normal feelings of any person, much more in gambling. A particular gambling problem is forgetting to have a poker face. If one has a winning hand, the tendency is to smile or say something. Bodily gestures also shows like twitching of fingers, tapping of feet or simply scratching something in your face or in other parts of the body. Even if the set of cards is a winnable hand, it can be read by your opponents and can be used against you. An opponent might be calling on the play and if he or she sense that you have a winning hand, then he might fold early on the game, and foiling your attempt on getting a larger pot. On the other hand, if you frown or say something bad, your opponents will also assume that you have a bad hand; therefore, will try calling or even raising. He or she will be confident enough that he or she will win and might just be bluffing because of your blunders.

This for me is the basic gambling tip so far not only in playing poker, but also for other casino games as well. Being poker faced can intimidate other amateur players. Making them do unnecessary decisions. Unless you are really good at playing, then this one will help you a lot on those games where you are not getting good hands at all.
